This was in interesting painting session. The reference for this session was my pet bird Walter (on top of my easel). The fascinating thing about painting a parrot like this is that you have to treat it somewhat like a normal portrait of a person. His face contains a lot of expression and it can be technically challenging to capture it. It is also very difficult whenever you are working with very intense colors that are interacting with one another like they are in his feathers. That also makes it a blast to paint though ;).
